FISH to host community meeting on salmon protection projects

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 22 in the picnic shelter at Confluence Park, the site of a $1 million Issaquah Creek restoration project.

The Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery will host a community meeting on recent work to protect salmon later this month.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 22 in the picnic shelter at Confluence Park. Confluence Park is currently the site of a $1 million habitat restoration project widening the east fork of Issaquah Creek to better accommodate annual salmon migration to the nearby hatchery. The project includes reconstruction of floodplain and stream areas, habitat improvements and the replanting of native vegetation.

The meeting will feature presentations from two city of Issaquah employees closely involved with efforts to aid salmon, Surface Water Manager Kerry Ritland and Environmental Science Associate Dana Zlateff.

Admission is free, though FISH will accept donations at the event. Refreshments will be provided.
