The following information was compiled from the city of Issaquah and Sammamish police reports:
A 63-year-old Los Angeles woman contacted police June 12 after suspecting someone of breaking into her deceased mother’s Sammamish home to “mess with her.”
The woman said she returns from time to time to the vacant home in the 800 block of 214th Place Northeast. She said she was back this time because of an extremely high power bill that reached $700 for two months.
The woman then explained how sentimental items would go missing in the Sammamish home and appear in her L.A. home and pointed out worn spots on the sofa arm rest she said weren’t there before.
Officers explained to the woman the high power bill could be due to a failing refrigerator that had molded and rotten perishables in it.
The woman assured police she wasn’t crazy.
NOT ‘TOXIC WASTE’
Issaquah police responded to a call June 6 of someone placing two barrels of “toxic waste” in the 600 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard, near a green belt.
Officers located the barrels, which had a non-hazardous sticker on them. Police contacted the owners of the barrels, who stated they were samples taken for a study and were sitting there until results were returned.
MONSTERS ON THE LOOSE?
An Issaquah woman called police in the early morning of June 7, reporting that she saw a male dressed up in some sort of horror movie outfit and a female covered in leaves.
Police searched the area, in the 700 block of 7th Avenue Northwest, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
CHILD LOCKED IN CAR
Issaquah police responded to a call June 5 of a 2-year-old boy locked in a pickup in front of a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard.
Officers unlocked the vehicle and removed the child, who was unharmed.
FLAG STOLEN
A city of Issaquah employee contacted police June 4, alerting officers that someone stole an American flag valued at $150.
The flag was taken from the 100 block of East Sunset Way sometime between June 1-3.
CAUGHT CARRYING
Sammamish police discovered two boys, 16 and 17, roaming around the Margaret Mead Elementary property late in the evening of June 14.
When officers asked the boys what they were doing, they said they were going to East Sammamish Park. Officers informed the boys the park was closed and noticed their eyes were glossed over. They asked where the marijuana was and the boys began removing items from their bags.
Police confiscated 3.2 grams of marijuana, a grinder and a glass bong. All items were taken to the station for disposal.
CAMPING OUT
Sammamish police stumbled across an illegally parked vehicle in the 4500 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast in the early morning of June 14.
When officers approached the vehicle they saw a man coming out of the woods carrying two pillows and sleeping bag. They also found a woman nearby, who had a no-contact order with the Monroe man.
The Bellevue woman was arrested for violating her order. The man refused to give a statement, but said he was afraid the woman would relapse back into taking drugs.
QUICK THIEVES
A Sammamish woman called police June 13 after discovering someone broke into her home and stole a necklace and an iPad.
The woman, who lives in the 20400 block of Northeast 37th Way, said she had only been gone for a couple of hours. It appeared the thieves entered via an open window in the master bedroom.
PACKAGE RANSOM
Sammamish police were contacted June 8 after a woman living at a residence refused to return packages wrongly delivered to her.
The woman, who lives in the 4200 block of 208th Avenue Northeast, bought the home in January. There were civil disagreements between the new owner and the former owners regarding repairs and payment.
The new owner said she wouldn’t return the packages because the former owner hadn’t lived up to their agreement. Police contacted the owner of the home, who agreed it was wrong to hold the packages and turned them over to police.
HIGH DRIVING
A 19-year-old man was pulled over June 12 after Sammamish police saw him driving northbound on 228th Avenue Southeast with only his parking lights on. When officers pulled him over they detected a strong odor of marijuana.
The man, who was back home from college for summer break, admitted to smoking cannabis two to three times a week. Police arrested the driver for suspicion of impairment due to marijuana use. He was taken to the hospital for tests.
CAUGHT STEALING
Issaquah police alerted Sammamish officers after they pulled over two suspects June 8, who admitted to stealing copper wire from a construction site atop the Plateau.
Police traced the incident back to the Greenbriar construction site where three extension chords valued at $3,150 were missing. The suspects, 29 and 22, are residents of Carnation.
NUMBER TWO
A Sammamish woman called police June 15 after discovering what appeared to be two piles of human feces on her front porch in front of her door.
The woman, who lives in the 1900 block of 263rd Court Southeast, said this was the second time in three weeks someone had defecated on her doorstep.
She suspects teenagers in the neighborhood, noting there have been numerous parties in the area of late.
HOME ROBBED
A Sammamish man contacted police June 11 after someone broke into his home and allegedly stole more than $11,000 in items.
Thieves made off with several items of jewelry from the home in the 25800 block of Southeast 25th Way, including a watch valued at $3,550.
