The Issaquah Environmental Council will discuss Good Plants, Bad Plants in a meeting Sunday at the King County Regional Library Service Center, 960 Newport Way NW, Issaquah.

The meeting will be from 5-7 p.m.

Topics include:

• Why are certain – sometimes pretty – plants considered noxious or invasive?

• What should be removed from our gardens and vacant lots?

• How should we remove them without impacting other plants or wildlife?

• What should we plant in their place?

• Who regulates weeds?

• Why can we buy noxious weeds at nurseries?

• What roles can we have to help control invasives and encourage natives?

A representative of King County Noxious Weed Control Program will be on hand as well as local folks who have been battling the intruders in Issaquah area green spaces.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a sample or picture of plants they’re unsure of and experts will try to identify them. Also, the meeting is designed to help pinpoint where stands of noxious weeds should be removed.
