Issaquah attorney Stacy Goodman today announced plans to run for election to the Issaquah City Council. Goodman was appointed to the council earlier this year to replace Maureen McCarry, who resigned due to illness.

“In just a short time, I see so many issues important to Issaquah and the region where I can represent people and make a difference,” Goodman said.

Goodman has been a resident of the Issaquah area since 1989. She and her husband, Tim, raised their sons on Tiger Mountain and moved to Issaquah Highlands in 2006. Before attending law school and joining local firm Carson & Noel, PLLC, she was a reporter and editor at the Issaquah Press for nine years.

“I know this community well, and I know it from many viewpoints,” Goodman said. “I’ve experienced life in Issaquah as a resident, a parent raising children, a volunteer, a journalist, and now as a business owner. Of course I’ve seen it change over the past 22 years, but change can present us with some exciting opportunities as we shape the future of Issaquah.”

Goodman said she wants to continue serving on the council to focus on key projects that will guide Issaquah’s growth far into the future. Goodman serves on the council’s Services and Safety, and Transportation committees. She also serves on the Board of the regional Eastside Human Services Forum, and is an alternate member of the Cascade Water Alliance.

“As a newer councilmember, I am most excited about talking to citizens about how I can best represent them,” Goodman said. “I pledged during the appointment process to work hard, be accessible, listen, and ask tough questions. I intend to keep that pledge.”
