Got wheels? Drivers needed for Tent City move Saturday

Tomorrow a.m. starting about 6:30 or 7, we need a few volunteer drivers with vehicles to haul as many people as possible to the Lake Washington United Methodist Church in Kirkland.

After three months in the car park of the Issaquah Community Church, the homeless encampment Tent City 4 is leaving Issaquah and moving to Lake Washington United Methodist Church in Kirkland.

This Saturday, April 24, volunteers are needed at the Community Church at 205 Mountain Park Blvd. SW in Issaquah, to help break the camp down and load materials onto trucks.

A message from Elizabeth Maupin of the Issaquah Sammamish Interfaith Coalition…

“While it is true that tear down volunteers are not needed at the Issaquah Community Church until 8 a.m., transport volunteers are needed earlier to take the advance teams to the new site in Kirland.

We had hoped to have one or more of the SHARE vans here at this point, but there is no sign of them yet. So tomorrow a.m. starting about 6:30 or 7, we need a few volunteer drivers with vehicles to haul as many people as possible to the Lake Washington United Methodist Church in Kirkland.

If you can help, contact Earle Jones at 425-392 3344 (home) or 425-736-8001. Earle will be sleeping at the church tonight to facilitate an early start, so use the cell phone number after 8 p.m. tonight.”

Those wishing to help can just show up on Saturday morning, or contact Paul Winterstein at pwinterstein.tc4@gmail.com for more information.
