Kamuron Gurol, Sammamish’s former community development manager and assistant city manager, recently accepted a position with Burien as city manager. The Burien City Council unanimously chose Gurol at its March 10 meeting.
Gurol was one of five finalists for the Burien city manager position, and was the only one who had never served as a city manager or city administrator. He has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard and was with the city of Sammamish for nine years. He started his new job on April 16.
In the City of Sammamish newsletter, Gurol was quoted saying,” Sammamish has made so much progress, it’s been exciting to be a part of it. It’s really taught me a lot and helped me grow as a public servant. I’m very grateful.”
Tim Larson, Sammamish communications manager, said that applications are currently being accepted to fill Gurol’s role as community development manager. The application deadline is May 2, with interviews to follow.
