Confluence Park was the center of attention in Issaquah on Thursday, July 27, as the city held it’s 125th birthday celebration.
The event featured games and activities for kids, live music and local food trucks. Autumn Monahan, assistant to the city administrator and one of the organizers of the event, said the event was a chance to celebrate Issaquah’s 125th birth and also the opening of Confluence Park’s second phase of development.
“It opened several months ago, at least the second phase did, but we wanted to wait for nicer weather and the people wanted to come out to celebrate the park,” she said. “It was two for one, which was really exciting.”
The event saw a large response with more people constantly coming to the park throughout the night. Monahan was happy with the community participation and excitement.
“We got several sponsors who generously donated for our event and then we posted it on Facebook and saw people were starting to RSVP and got to the point of close to 2,000 people,” she said. “We were amazed by the reaction and the excitement from the community about coming out and celebrating.”
