Alongside the city of Issaquah’s Down Home Fourth of July Celebration, the Issaquah History Museums is planning to hold its eleventh Heritage Day event.

The idea is to give families a hands-on history lesson.

Kids can try their heads at splitting cedar shingles, making homemade soap, dressing in historic garb, whipping cream into butter and operating a historic pump car.

Participation is free this year. The event is 11 a.m.-2 p.m., July fourth at the Issaquah Depot, 150 1st Ave. N.E.
