Forecasters are warning high winds Monday night and Tuesday morning could snap tree branches and cause local power outages.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a wind advisory for most of Western Washington, cautioning residents a strong low-pressure system will draw a hard wind blowing in from the South.
A NWS wind advisory is issued whenever winds of 30 to 39 mph or wind gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely.
Local sustained wind speeds of 25 to 35 and gusts of up to 50 mph are expected to accompany the rainy skies beginning at 6 p.m. tonight. The wind advisory is set to expire at 12 noon on Tuesday.
The City of Issaquah has posted several tips on the city’s Web site to help residents prepare for possible power outages.
Puget Sound Energy customers can call an automated phone system at 1-888-225-5773 to report power outages and hear about service updates. Residents are advised not call 911 for non-emergency questions, such as power outage duration or reasons for the outage.
