I-90 set to reopen Saturday morning

Earlier than expected, the westbound lanes of I-90 will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday, July 18, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews made faster than expected progress, according to the WSDOT Web site, meaning the bridge will reopen two days earlier than previously expected.

Crews will close all but one westbound lane of I-90 on Friday to restripe the lanes on Mercer Island and in Seattle.

According to DOT crews finished pouring concrete on Tuesday morning to keep the new expansion joints in place on the floating bridge. The contractor will begin removing equipment and restriping lanes by Friday morning.

The I-90 express lanes will be closed most of Saturday to restripe and will reopen in time for the Seafair Triathlon on Sunday, July 19 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.
