After giving away 500 turkeys in 20 minutes last year, an Issaquah church plans to double the amount of gobblers it passes out this year.
Eastridge Community Church also plans to give the 1,000 families a bag of groceries to help complete the Thanksgiving meal, Nov. 20.
“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our lives and the good things that we’re experiencing, but it can also be an especially challenging time for families with limited resources,” said Pastor Steve Jamison. “We want to show that Eastridge cares by providing a blessing this Thanksgiving to those who may be struggling to make ends meet.”
This is the eighth year the church is planning to provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need.
The group will also simultaneously pass out 1,000 turkeys at its campus in West Seattle, starting at 9 a.m.
The meals are first-come, first-served at both 24205 Issaquah-Fall City Road, Issaquah and 4500 39th Avenue S.W., Seattle.
