Issaquah schools and the school district have earned recognition for their successful conservation practices from the County’s Green Schools Program by embraced recycling, reducing waste and other conservation actions.
Issaquah School District completed Level One this spring, after 21 of its 24 schools reached that level. Six of the 21 schools also have completed Level Two and four schools have completed Level Three.
All 21 Green Schools in the district collect food scraps and food soiled paper, which are transported to a composting facility.
Issaquah schools honored are: Level One – Briarwood Elementary School; Level Two – Cougar Ridge Elementary School, Grand Ridge Elementary School, Pine Lake Middle School; Level Three – Creekside Elementary School and Newcastle Elementary School.
