The Department of Natural Resources granted Issaquah $10,000 to help maintain its tree canopy.
The city conducted a study in 2008 to estimate what percentage of its land had a tree canopy. The study met the American Forest Association’s recommendation of 51 percent, but the study didn’t meet regional standards.
If the city accepts the money, it plans to add $6,350 to conduct a new study to get a more accurate figure.
