An evacuation at Issaquah High School at 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 turned out to be a false alarm.
The evacuation was ordered after a student reported a suspicious backpack that looked to be abandoned in the hallway.
The owner of the backpack was located, and police determined that the backpack was not a threat, the city of Issaquah reported less than an hour after the evacuation.
Principal Andrea McCormick said in a press release that the evacuation was done out of “an abundance of caution.”
Police have been working to secure the campus and assist students and staff.
