IHS Principal Paula Phelps released this letter to the community:

We were saddened to learn yesterday that Sophomore Kevin Tork died on Monday night. This is a tremendous loss for our school, and I know many students and staff members were thankful for the extra counseling support and opportunity to reflect in an established safe room after they heard the news. Kevin’s family members today asked us to share memorial information with the Issaquah High community so that everyone who would like to remember and celebrate Kevin’s life can come together to do so. A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. this Friday, April 3, at St. Louise Catholic Church, 141 156th Ave. S.E., Bellevue. A mass at 4 p.m. and reception at 5:15 p.m. will follow.

During a sad time like this, please spend time with your children if you believe they might be personally grieving. There are many good grief resources available online, and do not hesitate to call our counseling center at 425-837-6140 for guidance or more information—we want all of our students to have the support they need.

Our thoughts are with the Tork family.
