Emily Moon will be Issaquah’s deputy city administrator, effective Aug. 18.
The bulk of Moon’s career has been serving local communities and strengthening municipal organizations. She also brings experience from her work for a municipal league.
Most recently, Moon served as assistant town manager for the Town of Windsor, Conn. She oversaw half of the town’s departments, including building safety and zoning, engineering, fire marshal, health, human services, information technology, the library, town clerk’s office, early childhood enterprise, adult day care enterprise and a variety of cross-department teams.
Before joining the Town of Windsor, Moon was a senior management analyst for the City of Westminster, Colo., and staff research analyst for the Michigan Municipal League.
Along with a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Michigan, Moon also has a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from the University of Oregon.
She’s also a known leader in the municipal government field. A member of the ICMA (International City/County Management Association), Moon has also graduated from the intensive Leadership ICMA program.
Issaquah’s previous deputy, Charlie Bush, now serves as Issaquah’s Development Services director.
