An Issaquah man, who allegedly ran a Metro Ride Share vehicle off the road, severely injuring three men, was charged with vehicular assault Tuesday.
Prosecutors accuse Douglas Burt Henderson of being drunk when his pickup truck smashed into the back of the van on Interstate 90, pushing it across three lanes and causing it to roll Sept. 24.
Three of the seven passengers were partially pinned underneath the van, and had to wait for the fire department to extricate them, according to the charging papers.
The men were transported to Harborview Medical Center, where they were treated for several bone injuries and brain trauma.
After a trooper allegedly smelled alcohol on Henderson, Henderson admitted to having had a couple drinks that morning.
He agreed to take a sobriety test, but the test ended early, because he was allegedly too intoxicated to finish it, charging papers say.
Blood samples showed Henderson had a .23 blood alcohol level, according to charging papers.
Prosecutors recommended he be released from jail on $25,000 bail, but also requested he be required to wear an alcohol-sensing device and to not drive a vehicle unless it had an alcohol-sensitive ignition locking device.
