Issaquah schools to receive achievement awards

Ten schools in the Issaquah School District have received Washington Achievement Awards, the top honor for schools in the state.

 

Ten schools in the Issaquah School District have received Washington Achievement Awards, the top honor for schools in the state.

Apollo, Challenger, Clark, Cougar Ridge, Discovery, Endeavor, and Newcastle elementary schools, along with Issaquah, Liberty, and Skyline high schools, received the awards and will be recognized at a ceremony April 24 in Lacey.

Apollo Elementary received special recognition in reading; Challenger, special recognition in English language acquisition; Clark, high progress; Cougar Ridge, overall excellence and special recognition in reading; Discovery, overall excellence and special recognition in reading; Endeavor, special recognition in reading; Newcastle, overall excellence and special recognition in reading; Issaquah High School, overall excellence and special recognition in reading; Liberty High School, high progress and Skyline High School, overall excellence.

The awards are based on Washington Achievement Index, which tracks performance on state tests over three years, and criteria from the elementary and secondary education act (ESEA) flexibility waiver. Schools may receive the award in one or more categories.
