Federal Way police released a local resident Monday after raiding his Issaquah apartment in connection with a Jan. 17 Federal Way shooting.
Issaquah Police Sgt. Scott Trial said local police aided in locating the suspect, an unnamed 21-year-old Hispanic male, in the Chopaka Apartments complex at 145 Newport Way Northwest.
Trial said once the suspect’s vehicle was positively identified at the address, both Federal Way and Issaquah police officers kept a close watch on the suspect’s location. They later contacted and detained four men and a woman there at around 4:40 p.m. for questioning.
“The entire thing went on for about five hours,” Trial said.
Federal Way police spokesperson Raymond Bunk said Federal Way PD then took custody of the 21-year-old local resident at the Issaquah Jail and transported him to Federal Way, where he was later released.
The law enforcement activity was in response to a shooting earlier that morning in Federal Way that left one person dead and one injured. According to a Federal Way police press release, the shooting occurred at around 4:30 a.m. and involved several Hispanic men believed to be in their 20s and 30s. On Monday, Bunk said another 21-year-old male suspect had been arrested for conspiracy to commit murder. The unnamed Issaquah resident could be charged later pending investigation.
The victims are reportedly from Renton.
