An Issaquah man who tried to hide from police was captured with the help of the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian1 helicopter on Thursday night.

The incident started just before noon Thursday in the 19500 block of Maxwell Road. A deputy was patrolling the neighborhood and spotted the suspect who appeared to be attempting to burglarize a house in the area.

When the suspect saw the deputy he ran to his car and drove away. The deputy stopped the vehicle near SE208 and Maxwell Road. When the deputy exited his car the suspect attempted to run the deputy over and sped away.

The deputy initiated a pursuit and chased the suspect on Highway 18 towards I-90. The deputy “pitted” the vehicle near mile post 27 and the suspect fled into the woods on foot.

Guardian 1 arrived and searched the area from the air as deputies searched for the suspect on foot. A pilot saw a “hot spot” in the woods a few feet off highway 18 and directed deputies to the location. The suspect was found hiding under heavy brush in the area.

The 27-year-old Issaquah man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.
