An Issaquah woman and her passenger were treated for minor injuries Sunday, Dec. 27 after they survived a roll-over crash in Central Washington.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Margaret M. Marshall, 77, was driving northbound state Route 153 about 5 miles north of Pateros when her SUV skidded across the icy road and hit the southbound guardrail. The SUV, a 1998 Toyota 4Runner, was totaled in the crash.
It rolled over several times, coming to rest on its right side in the southbound lane, the Washington State Patrol said. Both women were wearing seat belts.
“Their speed was too fast for the conditions,” said State Patrol Trooper Rich Magnussen. A speed limit of 60 mph is posted along the segment of highway where the accident occurred.
Marshall was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a head lacerations and bruises, while her passenger, 73-year-old Elizabeth Beuthel of Mercer Island, was treated at the scene.
