A blood drive will take place 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Eastside Fire and Rescue headquarters at 175 Newport Way Northwest in Issaquah.
The blood drive, to be run by Bloodworks Northwest, is being sponsored by members of the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Church council.
Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds and that blood will be in storage before an emergency occurs, according to the American Red Cross.
“One unit of blood can save three lives,” Knights of Columbus blood drive chair Ernst Linnemann said.
Consumption of an iron-rich diet, at least 16 ounces extra nonalcoholic fluids are recommended before a donation.
Walk-ins will be welcome at the April 11 blood drive, but Linnemann urged donors to make a reservation by writing to heimlinn@aol.com.
Puget Sound Blood Center reorganized as Bloodworks Northwest in January 2015. A schedule of Bloodworks Northwest’s mobile blood drives in the can be found by searching at www.psbc.org/programs/drives_search.htm.
