The YMCA will not build a new facility in Sammamish, officials announced Wednesday.
“Ultimately, the board determined that, under the circumstances, it isn’t fiscally prudent for us to continue with this project,” said Jane Lewis, YMCA of Greater Seattle Association Board chair. “We will continue to look for opportunities to expand our services in this community.”
Officials with the YMCA and the city had been in discussions since last year about a potential public-private partnership.
The Sammamish Family YMCA operates most of its programs out of leased space at the City Church. The Y will keep its property on 228th Avenue and may make improvements there, officials said. City officials could not be reached.
