The Lake Washington School District is looking for parent volunteers from all of its schools, including ones in Sammamish, for a new task force to look at the district’s future need for facilities.
The district’s “Long-Term Facilities Planning Task Force” would study, analyze and recommend action to address future enrollment and capacity issues in King County’s fastest-growing district, according to a statement announcing the openings made Oct. 23 by Communications Director Kathryn Reith.
“To better understand the larger communities’ priorities and desires regarding school facilities, the district wants to engage the community in a dialogue to further explore the enrollment and capacity issues, potential solutions, and alternatives,” Reith said in the announcement.
The district is seeking 41 parents — one from each neighborhood school and each of the three “Choice” high schools — along with two members of the business community, two senior citizens, and four at-large members from the community in general.
The task force, once formed, would work until June 2015, meeting three to five times over the year. Subcommittees would meet more often.
