Lane use on Newport Way Northwest squeezed down to one lane by construction

Crews are installing a new sidewalk from 12th Avenue Northwest to Northwest Maple Street.

Ouch.

Bad news, Newport Way Northwest drivers: A portion of the road is being reduced to one lane during daytime construction that will last through April 17, according to a traffic alert from the city sent out Monday morning.

Crews are installing a new sidewalk from 12th Avenue Northwest to Northwest Maple Street. The roadway will be squeezed down to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until the project’s scheduled completion date next Friday.

The road is an access point from the shopping centers on Northwest Gilman Boulevard to Tibbets Valley Park and other hi-traffic destinations, such as the Issaquah Transit Center.

Drivers looking for an alternate route to those destinations should try accessing them via SR 900/Renton Road from Northwest Maple Street or Northwest Gilman Boulevard.
