Liberty High School students enjoyed a commencement at Safeco Field June 10.

While spectators hardly filled the baseball arena, excitement filled the stadium.

Reporter Celeste Gracey spent the day at the stadium, taking photos and notes at all three of the Issaquah School District’s commencements. These are her top picks for Liberty High School’s ceremony.

Liberty High School graduates were the only ones allowed to decorate their mortarboards during the Issaquah School District graduations June 10. A personal favorite, the photo was taken from upper levels of the stadium. When I saw their hats in the back room, I instantly knew it’d be worth sneaking past some stadium workers to get this shot.

Just a minute or two before the students began to walk out on stage, this graduate came bursting out to the teachers at front.

Band teacher Phillip Donley stirred quite a bit of laughter with his performance of “It’s Friday” at the conclusion of his commcement speech. The top photo is of some students laughing.

Liberty High School graduation June 10, 2011. This is the widest of the shots I selected for this school. It’s the same perspective as the above mortarboard photo, but a much different photo. I particularly like how the lines converge on stage.
