As far as community organizers go, Dellann Elliott is just about the hardest working and most passionate you will meet.
After losing her husband to Glioblastoma Brain Cancer, Elliott has lobbied and raised funds to improve not only the level of research into the disease but also the level of support for its sufferers and their families.
As the Executive Director of The Chris Elliott Fund for Glioblastoma Brain Cancer, one of Elliott’s missions has been to partner with a respected medical institution in a coordinated effort against the disease.
This week she reached that goal.
The Swedish Neurological Institute in Seattle has announced the creation of the Chris Elliott Fund Integrated Support Coordinator position.
Working out of the hospital, the coordinator will provide a link between the work of the center’s Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment and the Chris Elliott Fund.
Dr. Greg Foltz at the institute has been instrumental in working with the Chris Elliott Fund to improve brain tumor and brain cancer screening processes.
“We are very grateful to him for recognizing the Chris Elliott Fund as a patient advocate, not only in the state of Washington but nationally as well,” Elliott said.
Paid for by funds raised by the Chris Elliott Fund, the Integrated Support Coordinator will maintain patient support groups, care coordination and patient and family support activities.
