Each year, hundreds of students in the Issaquah and Lake Washington school districts put on their creative thinking caps to dream up something unique and colorful for the Reflections Art program.
Introduced to encourage more students to explore their artistic potential, Reflections is a nationwide competition that includes a wide range of categories, including visual arts, dance, film production, literature, and musical composition.
The theme of the 2009-10 Reflections Program was “Beauty is..!” – prompting students to explore their unique notions of beauty through brush, banjo, ballet or ballpoint.
Four entries from local students were awarded the ‘Outstanding Interpretation’ designation for being among the most remarkable projects in the state, and will move on to the national level of competition:
Jasmine Cheng of Sunny Hills Elementary, for “The Spring Creek” – Intermediate Music
Madison Bristol of Issaquah Middle School, for “Imagine” – Jr. Dance
