The King County Sheriff’s Department uncovered a massive drug grow operation at an Issaquah Plateau home last week.
Police couldn’t give a street value estimate of the marijuana plants, but they called the grow operation a “significant bust.”
Two people were arrested after the Jan. 18 discovery, but neither have been charged as of The Reporter’s deadline.
Although no one was living at the home, the suspects did their best to keep up the appearance that a family was living in the affluent Issaquah home.
During holiday months, a Christmas tree was setup in the window. Various house lights were turned on to make the place look used, said a neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous.
Propane tanks generated enough energy to keep Puget Sound Energy from becoming suspicious, and a water filtration system prevented the smell, the neighbor said.
The growing methods were sophisticated, and there was a large amount of equipment, said Sgt. John Urquhart.
The entire house, located on the 24300 block of Southeast 46th Way, was filled with the plants.
The discovery was made by detectives doing investigative work, Urquhart said.
In addition to the arrests, police seized the plants, lights and other paraphernalia for growing the plants.
