Memorial Day service to honor fallen soldiers of Issaquah

VFW Post 3436 of Issaquah will hold its annual VFW Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Lower Hillside Cemetery, located at 515 W. Sunset Way.

The ceremony will honor those who have lost their lives in service to their country, and will include a 21-gun salute provided by the Liberty High School Jr. Naval ROTC.

There will be patriotic music throughout the ceremony. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the service by Flintoft’s Funeral Home.

There will be seating provided for those who are unable to stand for the 45-minute service. Parking will be first come, first served in the cemetery itself.

The VFW will be setting up the cemetery with crosses and flags beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday to honor the 524 veterans buried there. The VFW’s sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 709 and Cub Scout Pack No. 639 will be assisting in this setup, but all members of the public are welcome to come help.
