Neighborhoods south of Issaquah fight against Renton annexation

The administrative fate of two small communities near Honey Creek on the northeastern border between the City of Renton and unincorporated King County will be decided by the Feb. 9. special election.

The City of Renton last year annexed Honey Creek Estates and Sunset East, both of which fall in the Issaquah School District, in order to straighten out the city’s northeastern boundary.

The Renton Reporter writes that according to state law, residents can vote to revoke annexation and remain unincorporated. And that is exactly what the residents of these two communities are doing.
