Tranquility Holistic Center, Issaquah’s third collective garden access point for medical marijuana patients, plans to open once it secures a change of use permit for converting a single family home to a business.
Collective gardens allow 10 patients to share up to 45 plants for their medical needs.
Curtis Orndorff, one of the applicants, has the business license, and the area is zoned for office space.
“I’ve seen their business model and it’s very well planned,” said property owner Joe Liu.
The building is at 1730 NW Newport Way.
Issaquah requires a 1,000-foot buffer between a collective garden and a community center, school or another collective garden. The city also requires a 500-foot buffer between a collective garden and park, preschool or daycare center. Issaquah adopted its own cannabis ordinance, No. 2633, in 2011.
Cannabis isn’t grown on the site, according to Jay Berneburg, the attorney for the Tranquility Holistic Center.
“It’s a very low-key, professional business,” Berneburg said.
