Andrea McCormick, currently the assistant principal at Skyline High School, will be the new principal at Issaquah High School beginning July 1.
Prior to Skyline, McCormick worked in the Kent School District as part of the administrative team, an activities coordinator, a learning intervention specialist and an honors English teacher.
The interview team which included teachers, support staff, students and parents selected her as the top choice, according to a district announcement.
One of McCormick’s highest priorities is collaborating with teachers to support and strengthen instruction and building partnerships with the community.
McCormick will spend time with outgoing principal, Paula Phelps, before the end of school for a smooth transition.
Phelps will be the district’s executive director of high schools.
McCormick was already set to be the principal of summer school at Issaquah High, and so she will be able to use those months during break to get to know the campus and community.
