Since the City of Issaquah is responsible for regulating development, including how stormwater is managed, it is now required to comply with the Washington State Department of Ecology’s new “National Pollution Discharge Elimination System” (NPDES) Phase II municipal stormwater permit.
To comply with this new permit – like more than 100 other municipalities in Washington – Issaquah must change its development regulations concerning stormwater detention.
In addition to the permit’s requirements, the City is proposing other changes during this code update, including:
• Revisions to Issaquah’s temporary erosion and sediment control (TESC) program.
• New requirements to use low-impact development (LID) techniques for stormwater control in some areas of the City.
