On Wednesday, May 29, a fatal three-car crash occurred on state Route 18 at milepost 26 between Issaquah-Hobart Road and Interstate 90, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. when a driver heading eastbound on SR 18 crossed over the center line and hit two vehicles, killing the eastbound driver, according to WSP.

Besides the decedent, Scott Eric Salmi, 42, WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said no one else involved was injured. He added the cause of the driver crossing into oncoming traffic is still unknown.

Following the crash, the westbound and eastbound lanes on SR 18 were closed for several hours but are now open, according to social media posts from the Washington State Department of Transportation.
