A portion of the East Lake Sammamish Trail re-opened in Sammamish Friday, May 22, in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

The King County Parks and Recreation Department opened nearly half a mile in the northern segment of trail from 187th Avenue Northeast to the Sammamish Landing, located at 4607 East Lake Sammamish Parkway NE, according to a parks update.

The county expects the remaining portion of the northern segment to fully re-open in late June.

The entire segment stretches 2.5 miles from 187th Avenue Northeast to Northeast Inglewood Hill Road.

Crews will wrap up landscaping, fencing and signage installations along the trail throughout the next few weeks.
