Responding to separate crash, officer witnesses bus go into ditch | Issaquah Police Blotter May 8-14

The police blotter represents officers' accounts of crimes and incidents in the city of Issaquah. Persons arrested are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

May 8

PLATE: A license plate was reported stolen from a car on the 18300 block of Southeast Newport Way.

HOT DOG: An officer contacted a woman at her house on the 5300 block of 236th Place Southeast because she had left her dog in her BMW with the windows up in the sun. She said she had only left the dog for a short time. The officer gave her a warning.

URINETOWN: An officer responded to the 300 block of Front Street North to respond to an ongoing complaint about transients sleeping, urinating and leaving trash on the stairwell and landing of the Village Theatre. Police dispatch arranged a patrol for the following week to check on the problem.

DID THEY SOLEMNLY SWEAR?: An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Discovery Circle Northeast to respond to a report of juveniles “up to no good,” according to the complainant. One of the juveniles was being detained at an office on site. They were all released.

THAT WAS UNEXPECTED: While investigating a crash at Southeast 48th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road South, an officer witnessed a private charter school bus run off the road into a ditch. The officer stood by until a tow had the bus out of the ditch and off the road.

May 9

QUIET PINES: An officer responding to a 6:30 a.m. noise complaint on Northeast Alder Street found a contractor unloading lumber at a job site. He said he had been tossing the wood around but would begin to quietly place it on the ground.

LAYABOUT: An officer responded to a report of a person laying on the ground in a vacant portion of the 50 block of Front Street South. The person, a male, said he was just waiting for the bus, which wouldn’t arrive for 90 more minutes.

ASSAULT: A 67-year-old Seattle man was arrested for assault in the fourth degree and harassment on the 100 block of Newport Way Southwest.

May 10

DOMESTIC: A 39-year-old Issaquah man was arrested in connection to a domestic violence incident on the 900 block of Northeast High Street.

GTA: A maroon ’88 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the 1600 block of 11th Avenue Northwest, at a total loss of $2,000.

May 11

DUI: A 29-year-old Bellevue woman was arrested for drunken driving near the intersection of Front Street North and Interstate Highway 90, with a blood alcohol level of 0.201.

FERNGULLY: Trees were reported damaged in a possible malicious mischief case on the 1900 block of Northeast Park Drive, at a total loss of $250.

CAMRY AGAIN: A white ’91 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Lake Drive at a total loss of $2,000.

LEERY: A resident of the 1400 block of Pine Crest Circle Northeast called to report three men had climbed up a pile of dirt on a neighboring construction lot to look over her fence and into her house. She closed her blinds and they sat on a bench at the park along another side of her house. they left shortly after she called police and were gone by the time an officer arrived.

May 12

RECKLESS: A 20-year-old Renton man was arrested for reckless driving near the intersection of Renton-Issaquah Road Southeast and Northwest Talus Drive.

ASSAULT: A 57-year-old Sammamish man was arrested for domestic assault in the fourth degree on the 900 block of Northeast Park Drive.

May 13

2 LOKO: A 22-year-old Seattle man was arrested for shoplifting less than $12 of alcohol and energy drinks from a store on the 100 block of East Sunset Way.

ME TIME, INTERRUPTED: An employee of a store on the 100 block of East Sunset Way reported he had demanded a white male in his 20s leave the premises after spending 30 minutes in the bathroom. The man allegedly came out yelling and cursing at the employee as he left the store, creating a disturbance. An officer searched the area for the man with no results.

DUI: A 63-year-old Issaquah woman was arrested for drunken driving near the intersection of Newport Way Northwest and 12th Avenue Northwest, with a blood level of 0.228.

May 14

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Two Issaquah 18-year-olds were arrested for damaging a window pane, at a total loss of $250, on the 23400 block of Southeast Black Nugget Road.

SOMEONE GET WERNER HERZOG: An officer searched the area of Renton-Issaquah Road Southeast and Northwest Talus Drive for a green Ford Escort swerving on the roadway. It was reported the driver was looking down in her lap, possibly texting. The car was not found.

COME GET ME: An officer responded to Walgreen’s on the 6300 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast to deal with a man who had been loitering for three hours. The man turned up with an outstanding theft warrant out of the Edmonds Police Department and was arrested.
