Moved by the suffering of the people of Haiti as they attempt to rebuild their nation after the earthquake, a group of Issaquah High School students and young musicians from Issaquah and Sammamish realized they could do something to help.
Bake sale? Penny collection? Car wash? Not for these guys.
How about a rock show? At 7 p.m. on March 11, six young area bands and rappers will perform at “Rock for Haiti,” at the Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus. Billed as a battle for the bands, but more a celebration of all things loud and raucous, Rock for Haiti will feature Nightmare Control Panel, MC Attle and Petey Sosa, Question of The Ages, Fit For Hounds, and Blunderbear.
Senior statesmen, Issaquah’s Barefoot Contingent, will headline the bill.
Entry is $5 at the door, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.
This will be a great opportunity to not only contribute to the Haiti relief effort but also get yourself some musical relief. For more information, e-mail IHS teacher Emily Carl at CarlE@issaquah.wednet.edu.
