Some distance has been created in what were initially tight races for 5th District House positions.
As of Thursday afternoon, Republican incumbent Jay Rodne, who initially trailed Democratic challenger Jason Ritchie in the first wave of preliminary results, now leads Ritchie by over 800 votes in the 5th District House Position 1 race. Rodne holds 50.27 percent approval, or 27,127 votes, to Ritchie’s 49.19 percent, or 26,306 votes.
Republican Paul Graves increased his once-narrow lead over Democrat Darcy Burner in the 5th District Position 2 race. Thursday afternoon’s election results showed Graves with 51.98 percent approval, or 27,980 votes, to Burner’s 47.93 percent, or 25,803 votes.
Democrat Mark Mullet saw his advantage over Republican challenger Chad Magendanz slightly decrease in the 5th District Senate race. Thursday’s updated results showed Mullet turned out 51.85 percent approval, or 28,246 votes to Magendanz’s 48.06 percent, or 26,184 vote.
