The Rotary Club of Sammamish tipped its collective hat to a group of Eastside Catholic students recently, honoring them as Students of the Month.
Kelly Carol, Juliauna Rossi, Alexia Petropoulos, Elizabeth Hambleton, Mick Davis and AJ Hostak were recognised for their various achievements, which included impressive contributions to charity, sports, scholastic life.
Female athlete of the year Carroll excelled in volleyball, basketball, softball and track, all the while maintaining a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.45. She hopes to study Sports Medicine at Washington State University.
Carroll also volunteered at basketball camps and tournaments, planted trees in community parks, and tutored students in a variety of subjects.
Rossi is the co-founder of the young Catholic Girls group in Seattle, and in 2007 went to Rome on eight week mission for her church. Her contributions to the community and the church are numerous.
But in the midst of all this extra-ciricullar work, she still managed to earn two letters in varsity lacrosse.
Petropoulos was recognized for passion for drama. But she has also worked as volunteer at Teenline, and runs the Circle of Friends Club at Eastside Catholic.
Petropoulos has been named the drama student of the year, and received the Principal’s Award and Peer Tutor of the Year award.
Hostak also successfully combined on field endeavor with off-field excellence.
With a 3.89 GPA, including being named to the National Honor Society, he also excelled in football, wrestling, lacrosse, and baseball.
He hopes to go to Gonzaga to study Secondary education and Political Science.
Students Elizabeth Hambleton and Mick Davis were also recognized by Rotary, although they could not make it to the presentation.
