Rotary applauds strong character and generous spirit in students

“As our economy crumbles, it is important that we recognize that our young students are the greatest natural resource we have,” said Issaquah Rotary’s Janet Barry.

“As our economy crumbles, it is important that we recognize that our young students are the greatest natural resource we have,” said Issaquah Rotary’s Janet Barry. “It is a pleasure to honor these students who have achieved so much at school and in the community.”

Barry was speaking at Rotary’s Students of the Month meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Jordan Robinson and Kayli Stix from Liberty High School, Joe Herrera, Josh Wood and Christina Reddy from Tiger Mountain Community High School, and Christian Rennie from Issaquah High School, were applauded by the gathered Rotarians, as they listened to glowing reports of the students conduct at school, and their hopes and plans for the future.

Though all of the students have admirable pursuits in their sights, Joe Herrera’s entertaining explanation of his career goal had them rolling in the aisles.

“I will be going to Renton Tech, where I plan to train as an auto-body technician,” he began. “I realized that I wanted to do that after I crashed my car a couple of times.”

The Reporter joins Issaquah Rotary in congratulating these young men and women, and wishes them all the best in their, obviously bright, futures.
