A parking lot, trailhead and trail to the Lower Evans Creek Preserve are now open, according to an announcement from the City of Sammamish sent out by email Monday.
The parking lot to the preserve is located at 4001 224th Ave. N.E.
The Evans Creek Preserve is located in unincorporated King County on the Sammamish’s northern border. The preserve, which opened in 2011, consists of a large undeveloped open space that includes a portion of Evans Creek, wetlands and meadows.
The latest additions are part of Phase II construction, expected to finish by the end of 2015. Phase I was completed when the Preserve opened, with help from the community. A majority of the Preserve’s trails were built in association with the Washington Trails Association.
The city of Sammamish has budgeted more than $1 million total toward the Preserve in its 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 budgets.
