Sammamish City Councilman John Curley, who announced he won’t run for re-election after his term ends this December, is returning to evening radio.

KIRO 97.3 FM announced this week Curley is partnering with Andrew Walsh to create a program called “The John Curley Show with Andrew Walsh.”

The show, which began May 13, can be heard from 7-10 p.m., weekdays.

“With John’s comfortable style and story-telling skills he naturally fits well in a night time setting,” said Pete Gammell, KIRO Radio program director. “Partner John’s entertaining approach with Andrew’s newsy perspective, and you have a completely new dynamic and compelling show.”

Curley is best known for his 14 years of hosting Evening Magazine on KING-TV.

“I am excited to partner with Andrew,” Curley said. “I think it will be a really unique show in Seattle. I’m sure it will be lively and topical.”

Walsh has been at KIRO Radio since 2010, producing KIRO Radio’s Ross and Burbank Show and co-hosting the Too Beautiful To Live podcast with Luke Burbank and hosting The Andrew Walsh Show since October of 2012.

Walsh started his radio career in New Hampshire, where he served as a public radio producer for eight years, and spent one year at KUOW Public Radio in Seattle as producer.

“I can’t wait either,” Walsh said. “However, I think I might need to consume more coffee to keep up with John’s energy.”
