Sammamish Nights: ‘When the kids go home and the adults come out’ | SLIDESHOW

The seventh annual Sammamish Nights took over the Sammamish Commons Plaza Saturday from 6:30-10 p.m.

With a wine glass in nearly everyone’s hand, Sammamish Nights brought a relaxed atmosphere to the Sammamish Commons Plaza Saturday from 6:30-10 p.m.

This is “when the kids go home and the adults come out,” Executive Director of the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce Deb Sogge said.

In its seventh year, the chamber puts on the evening event, which was “born out of the need to have an adult venue” in the city, Sogge said.

The plaza, which only a few hours before donned face painted children and bouncy houses at the city event, Sammamish Days, now lit up with white Christmas lights strung around tree trunks and candles on the tables covered with white cloth.

When people entered the plaza, gated off by white picket fences, they were directed to Sammamish Chamber volunteers who handed them a wine glass.

Tents lined the area — nearest the library were 23 booths housing companies that offered free food and drink samples. Opposite the plaza, under similar tents, artist from the Sammamish Arts Fair, set for Oct. 10-11, showcased their work.

The live band, Shelley and the Curves, performed on stage singing classics like B52’s “Love Shack” and KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight.”
