A 17-year-old Sammamish girl, driving a 2007 BMW 328i, was arrested and charged with reckless driving after being clocked by Sammamish Police doing 93 mph in a 45 mph zone.

According to the police report, the officer was monitoring speeds and traffic on Sahalee Way, near the Sahalee Golf and Country Club, just after midnight on the morning of Thursday, June 2, when the black BMW drove past.

“As soon as the vehicle passed me I turned around and gave chase,” the officer wrote in his report. After driving for less than two blocks, the officer came across the BMW already pulled over onto the side of the road. “I didn’t even have a chance to turn on my emergency lights yet.”

“Before I could say anything, she (the driver) was already apologizing,” the officer wrote, adding that the driver “told me over and over again that she was running late for her curfew.”

The teenage driver was arrested and taken into custody before being released to her parents.

The officer noted that there were several other cars on the road at the time of the incident.

Regular vandalism

The residents of a home on Northeast 19th Drive have reported that acts of vandalism to their vehicles is becoming a regular occurrence.

Sometime in the last week of June, three cars were vandalized.

One, a 2001 Ford Escape, had syrup poured over it.

Another two, a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2006 Toyota Scion, were ‘egged.’

According to the police report, one of the residents said that this was becoming a “nuisance issue when she leaves her vehicle parked on the street,” and that it had occurred about seven times in the last year.

Roof-rack removed

A green Volkswagen Rabbit received some unwanted modifications recently, while it was parked in a quiet area of Sammamish.

According to the police report, a factory-installed black, aluminum snowboard roof-rack, worth $500, was removed from the vehicle which was parked at Ebright Creek Park during the early evening of June 2.

About $300 damage was caused to the roof of the car by the removal of the rack.

Window smashed

In the early hours of June 4, a thief broke the rear window on the driver’s side of a 1996 Lexus parked on the 212 block of Southeast 28th Street.

After gaining entry, the thief stole $100 in cash, and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses valued at $140.
