Sammamish student named Washington State Distinguished Finalist

Afeef Sheikh, a senior at the Nikola Tesla STEM High School in Redmond and a resident of Sammamish, was named as the Washington State Distinguished Finalist by the 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, the nation’s largest youth volunteer service recognition program.

He also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his community hours, as well as a commendation letter from the United States Congress House of Representatives (Rep. David Reichert) for his commitment and passion to service.

Sheikh is also being recognized for founding “The Literacy Crusade.”
