Sammamish teen falsifies robbery, stabbing incident in Klahanie

Police determined the reported robbery and assault of a 14-year-old Sammamish male Tuesday to be made up.

Police determined the reported robbery and assault of a 14-year-old Sammamish male Tuesday to be made up.

“He fabricated the incident,” Sammamish Police Chief Nathan Elledge said Wednesday.

Initially, Sammamish police, King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support and K9 units responded to the incident in the 4200 block of Klahanie Drive SE around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim, a 14-year-old male, reported a man had confronted him, stole $20 and slashed his forearm before running off.

Elledge said officials had reason to believe the boy might be fabricating the story Tuesday night, but just in case it were true, searched for the reported suspect.

It is unclear why the boy made up the incident.

The boy did have a small cut on his forearm, which police believe may be self-inflicted.

As this story garnered a lot of attention via social media following the incident, Elledge said his goal was to ease the community’s mind.

The boy could be cited for falsifying a report.
