Faith Church will host an open house for Klahanie-area residents on Wednesday, regarding potential annexation to Sammamish.

The open house will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 10.

Members of the Sammamish City Council, city department heads and other staff will be on hand to present information and answer questions.

Klahanie is currently in the official Potential Annexation Area of the city of Issaquah. Voters in Klahanie decided against annexation into Issaquah in the Feb. 11 special election.

Following the failure of the measure, Issaquah officials began studying the possible release of Klahanie from its annexation area and, in spring, Sammamish began the first steps toward annexation when it worked out an interlocal agreement with Issaquah to transfer the area to Sammamish’s own potential annexation area.

The King County Growth Management Planning Council unanimously approved the transfer in a May vote and, over the summer, Sammamish commissioned a study from Butkus Consulting to determine what annexation would mean for residents’ taxes and the city’s coffers.

Next, Sammamish, Issaquah and King County will have to hash out revised comprehensive plans. Sammamish officials will then apply to the Boundary Review Board for approval of annexation before an election date can be set.

Faith Church is located at 3924 Issaquah-Pine Lake Road S.E.

A final open house has been scheduled for Oct. 15 in Sammamish City Hall.
