Sammamish tricks weren’t such a treat | Police Blotter

This week's police blotter for Issaquah and Sammamish

The following information was compiled from City of Issaquah and City of Sammamish police reporters:

There was no shortage of tricks leading up to Halloween in Sammamish, with four reports of pumpkins being stolen or smashed in the past week.

At least one car was dented from stolen pumpkins being smashed on it.

In an incident on Northwest 21st Street on Oct. 29, eight hoody-clad teenagers toilet papered a home and saran wrapped a car before the owner chased them off. They also smashed a pumpkin on the owner’s porch.

Axe throwing practice

Two teenagers were seen throwing a small axe at trees at Confluence Area Park in Issaquah on Oct. 22.

The officer couldn’t find any trees that were cut down or show significant damaged, but he warned them not to do damage in a city park and released them.

FourLoko before the big game

Police arrested a student at an Eastlake High School football game, after he showed signs of being drunk Oct. 21.

The officer was off duty, but approached the teen after a security officer pulled him aside to interview him. He smelled like alcohol and his eyes were dilated.

The teen admitted to drinking FourLoko before the game, and submitted to a volunteer breathalyzer test. When police arrested him for being a minor drunk in a public place, he protested, saying he volunteered to take the test.

Soaped fountain

Someone called in a traffic hazard after seeing the fountain at Talus was soaped again Oct. 22.

The soap wasn’t flowing out into the road, so there was little for the officer to do but call the homeowner president to de-suds the fountain.

Stolen guns

A man suspected his son’s friends of stealing a .38-caliber pistol and .22-caliber rifle Oct. 24.

When the friends were playing hide-and-go-seek a couple months ago, they discovered the weapons at the home on the 300 block of 227th Lane Northeast, Sammamish.

The man decided to buy some trigger locks after the incident. The suspects didn’t find the keys.

He thinks it’s one of the boys, because there was no ransacking or break-in at the home. He suspects they used and AirSoft case to sneak the pistol out.

How to use a dumpster

A woman called Issaquah police Oct. 27 after she broke a window pane and didn’t know what to do with the broken glass.

The officer told her to throw it in the dumpster.

Boat stolen, ditched

Someone stole a boat and trailer Oct. 29 and them dumped them in a hazardous place for traffic, but not before ripping off the boat’s motor.

Seeing how the motor was so obviously torn off the boat, the fuel lines and wires cut, the police officer called the boat owners to see if they knew it was missing. They were out of town.

A neighbor, near Southeast 18th Street and 236 Avenue Southeast in Sammamish, heard banging at about 4 a.m., but it eventually stopped, and she went back to bed.
