The preliminary results for this the Nov. 6 general election were reported at 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday night. Democrat Kim Schrier leads Republican Dino Rossi.
In one of the biggest races of the state, Republican Dino Rossi and Democrat Kim Schrier are running for the open seat left by retiring Congressman Dave Reichert. The 8th Congressional District runs from Issaquah, Auburn, and Sammamish all the way East to Wenatchee and Ellensburg.
The Secretary of State is reporting Kim Schrier with 55.3 percent of the vote, with 89,386 counted votes so far. Dino Rossi is at 44.7 percent, with 72,266 votes so far.
Washington votes by mail and ballots can be postmarked as late as Election Day, meaning they could change in the following days. Check back this week for updated results.
